The magic of Christmas markets has begun

From the last days of November, Luxembourg is decked out in its finest lights to welcome the Christmas season. In almost every public square, small wooden villages spring up from the ground, as if straight out of a winter fairy tale. And so, the Christmas market season is officially underway. The city of Luxembourg is no exception: until 4 January, chalets transform the capital's squares into a veritable showcase of lights... with a host of new features this year.

On Place Emile Hamilius, the majestic Royal Fir Tree welcomes visitors at the entrance to the city. Over ten metres tall and decorated with a thousand magical details, this artificial tree is certainly a novelty, but it is not quite like the others. A small golden train and figurines in the shape of little men can be seen circulating on three floors. The whole thing is covered with thousands of tiny lights, snow and a large sparkling star at the top of the tree. At its feet are six chalets offering savoury and sweet gourmet treats, mulled wine and other seasonal drinks.

Place Guillaume is now home to Winterkids, a space dedicated to families. At its heart stands the Advent calendar chalet, the Adventskalennerhaus. This chalet is unique in the world, its facade resembling a giant Advent calendar. Every day, from December 1st to 24th, a new window opens, revealing a sweet treat or an activity. Hot chocolate, mulled wine, and other seasonal drinks are also available.

But that's not all in terms of entertainment. Winterkids also features a new giant slide and a flying reindeer carousel. During the school holidays – starting Saturday, December 20th – the Winterkids Village offers workshops and shows, allowing children and parents to immerse themselves in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

And to top it all off, at Kinnekswiss, Wanterpark is reinventing itself with a new open-air ice rink, a musical atmosphere, and an enhanced food village.
