The City of Luxembourg ranks 9th in the Global Liveability Report 2020 and thus maintains its place in the top 10, which it already occupied in previous years.

When choosing a place to live, there are many factors to consider - climate, housing, infrastructures, health services, to name but a few.

Although it is difficult to find a perfect match, there are cities that offer the ideal combination of elements that make them the most livable cities in the world. And Luxembourg is one of them.

These are the findings of the new edition of the Global Liveability Report 2020 on liveable cities for European expatriates around the world. Author of the report is ECA International, an expert in global mobility and provider of solutions and information for international HR professionals.

Luxembourg ranks 9th among 490 cities analysed

The study evaluates several factors to arrive at an estimate of the quality of life in more than 490 cities around the world. The City of Luxembourg ranks 9th in the world and thus maintains its place in the top 10 that it already occupied in previous years.

The 2020 Global Ranking for European Expatriates, which is based, among other things, on the ratings of European expats, is led by Copenhagen (Denmark) and Bern (Switzerland), both at 1st place, followed by The Hague (Netherlands) and Geneva (Switzerland)

The cities are rated based on several criteria, such as climate, access to healthcare, housing, social networks and leisure, infrastructures, personal safety, political tensions, air quality, etc. This data is used in particular by human resources professionals to calculate cost of living premiums that they grant to expats.
