Ever since the end of the Second World War, Luxembourg has advocated international cooperation, considered the best measure to guarantee its sovereignty and development. Over the years, it has become a member – often a founding member – of many international organisations and institutions. The Grand Duchy’s geographical situation means it is a country in which the influences of numerous nations converge. As a result it is often perceived by its international partners as a privileged partner within institutions, readily taking on the role of arbitrator and defender of the law and international treaties.
