The Luxembourg Constitution confers on the state the right to organise and regulate the education system. The majority of schools are therefore free public schools.
Apart from the public education system, the Grand Duchy also has a number of private and international schools.
Most of the private schools teach the same syllabuses and prepare pupils for the same diplomas, but they are fee-paying.
In addition to the public and private schools, there are some fee-paying foreign schools which offer a different curriculum and therefore do not award the same diplomas.
