"Museums connect!". It is with the following slogan that the "d'stater muséeën", association of all the seven City museums of Luxembourg, is unveiling the 17th edition of its yearly "Nuit des Musées". New this year : a group of four performers will act as both, hosts and guides.
The group of the d'stater muséeën is welcoming from 6pm onwards all culture lovers, famillies, enquiring minds and party animals to come and discover their collections and current exhibitions in a most singular context. More than just a common late-night opening, Nuit des Musées is an excuse for celebration, with a rich satellite program that includes, among others, performances, workshops for children, DJ sets, as well as tasty gourmet offerings.
The chosen theme for this 17th edition being "Museums connect! ", the focus has been put on interaction between the cultural institutions, and their vast but not always easy-to-digest artistic offer, and audiences not always keen on visiting museums, if not for the openings. A simple matter of time and education, say performers Catherine Elsen, Clara Thomine, Fabio Godinho and Marianne Villière, who will tackle said misunderstanding in the most playful of manners. Each one of them will use his/her artistic talent in order to introduce and explain the works kept inside the walls of the 7 City museums involved, which, by the way, are less than a mile apart. their common performance will be streamed live on the "d'stater muséeën" Facebook page, Museumsmile. To make your visit from one place to the other run as smooth as can be, free shuttle bus transportation will be provided until closing time at 1am.
Only the Casino Luxembourg - Forum d’art contemporain has been granted an all-nighter until 3am. This is where those still up for it, will have the chance to dance to the electronic grooves by British-born and Berlin-residing Planningtorock and the French and Luxembourg-residing Kuston Beater.
