Swimming, cycling and running: the Ironman 2017 will challenge you

The 5th edition of Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg will take place on the banks of the Moselle from 16 to 18 June.

16-ironmanSince it was launched in Luxembourg, Ironman 70.3 has become extremely popular. Thousands of athletes are eager to take part each year. This 5th edition, which takes place on 16 to 18 June, includes a triathlon and two new races (Irongirl and Ironkids) which promise a great experience. Registration is now closed, the supporters just need to line the banks of the Moselle to cheer on the athletes and create a lively atmosphere along the route.

3, 2, 1... Go!

On Sunday 18 June, the Ironman 70.3 race – in other words the lighter version of the traditional Ironman as the distances are halved – starts out from the centre of Remich with the swimming event, which covers a distance of 1.9 km. It continues with the cycling event over a distance of 90 km, starting from Remich. The athletes will cycle past the famous 'Schengen' monument, whilst enjoying the glorious scenery of the Moselle vineyards. Finally, they will finish with the running event with a distance of around 21km, also in the town of Remich.

After the competition, 35 qualifying places are awarded by age category for the 2017 Ironman World Championship on 9 September 2017 in the United States.

Irongirl and Ironkids on 16 and 17 June  

For the 1st time this year, the event will be held over three days with Irongirl and Ironkids taking place just before Ironman 70.3.

Irongirl is women-only 6.5 km running racewhich promises to be great fun! This race is suitable for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced. Whether you want to make your personal best or simply have a good time, Irongirl is an unforgettable experience. All participants will be awarded medals and t-shirts and the best athletes will even receive a gift. Start on 16 June at 19.30, place Kons in Remich.

Ironkids is aimed at children who would like to have an intensive and enjoyable sporting experience. There are six departure groups, split into three age groups: 'Bambinis', 'Kids' and'Youth'. The children's race includes a swimming event at Remich open-air swimming pool from 50 m to 200 m, as well as a running raceof 600 m to 2 km depending on the group. Start on 17 June from 11.00 onwards.

As well as Ironman 70.3, Irongirl and Ironkids, which will all be great to watch, there will be numerous other events held on site over the three days.
