The call for projects on the design of the Luxembourg pavilion for the World Fair 2020 Dubai is available on the portal for public procurement contracts. Associations of architects and scenographers are invited to submit their project no later than 20 March 2017 in order to participate in the public call for tender.
A resourceful pavilion!
Luxembourg's pavilion will be erected on a plot of some 3,500m2. It will contain a permanent exhibition space, a multi-purpose space, a restaurant, administrative offices and technical facilities. The set design and the architecture are going to focus on the issues related to resources, in a wider sense and in detail, by relying on the principles of circular economy and interconnection.
Applications need to document the link between the advertised project and the theme of the Luxembourg pavilion. Reconversion scenarios for the pavilion after the end of the World Fair also have to be mentioned in the application.
The dedicated website of Luxembourg's contribution to the 2020 World Fair in Dubai, www.luxembourgexpo2020dubai.lu, is online. Its goal is to inform the public regularly about the pavilion's conception and construction.
The title chosen for the Luxembourg pavilion is 'Resourceful Luxembourg' (Luxembourg, land of resources), as Luxembourg has always been aware of the necessity of being open towards the outside and to link human, natural, technical, industrial and financial resources in order to shape its future.
According to forecasts, some 25 million visitors are awaited at the World Fair. Some 200 countries and international organisations will present their ideas and solutions revolving around the chosen theme: 'Connecting minds, creating the future'.
