According to the third edition of the InterNations annual report, the Grand Duchy attracts a large number of expats. The ranking is based on a survey of expats who awarded marks to various aspects of expat life (quality of life, family life, cost of living, etc.) in 67 destinations worldwide.
Selected among 350 productions in total, Pol Cruchten's 90-minute feature film was able to once again make a difference, by winning the hisghest award at the 2016 FICA. The jury emphasised the poetic vision of the film that transcends the harshness of reality.
The 9th Festival du Film Francophone d'Angoulême (Angoulême Festival of the Francophone Film) is taking place from 23 until 28 August 2016. Among the nie movies in competition, two are actually Luxembourgish coproductions: 'Souvenir', a comedy drama, and 'Noces', a drama. The Schueberfouer is one of Luxembourg's undeniable highlights! During nearly three weeks one of Europe's biggest (and oldest) funfairs takes place at the Glacis in Luxembourg City. Between candyfloss and 'Gromperekichelcher', between games for old and young, between commercial and beverage stands, over 2 million visitors are enjoying themselves each year.

Also known as Léiffrakrautdag and Krautwëschdag, Léiffrawëschdag is a type of harvest festival, with origins going back to before the Christian era. These days, the traditional blessing of herbs on the Feast of the Assumption - 15 August, a public holiday - is only held in a few places, and most notably in Greiveldange, a picturesque village on the Moselle.

On 16 January 2016, during an official ceremony – after the presentation at the grand ducal palace –, the Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee presented the team of athletes representing the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, from 5 to 21 August 2016.
