Cross the blades at the Medieval Festival Vianden

From 30 July till 7 August 2016, dance, music, gastronomy, arts and combats like in the Middle-Ages

25-vianden_hFrom 30 July to 7 August 2016, the association 'Friends of the Vianden Castle' (Les Amis du château de Vianden) is organising the 15th edition of its annual Medieval festival, the largest in the region. Between knightly duels, juggler performances, artists' shows and delights from the medieval kitchen, lovers of Medieval festivals are going to enjoy themselves.

Since over 10 years the Medieval Festival at Vianden Castle has been offering visitors to relive the Middle Ages and Renaissance in Castle Vianden and its courtyard through:

  • demonstrations of everyday life in the Middle Ages: blacksmiths, potters, alchemists, armourers, glaziers, calligraphers, wood sculptors, stonecutters, bowyers, coopers, rope weavers, jewelers, weavers, dyers and others share their expertise with the public;
  • a Medieval market with leathers goods, hats, jewelry, musical instruments, glassware, fabrics, brass goods, wooden toys, liquors, soap, baskets and cheese;
  • many shows and events: knightly duels, concerts, jugglers, falconer, ...;
  • as well as a wide range of cuisine with Medieval and contemporary specialties.

Practical information

On Saturday a and Sunday 7 July, a free shuttle bus will be available between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Entrance fees are at €8.50 for adults, €2 for children and €7 for students and senior citizens. Kids below the age of 6 are free.
