No other race in Luxembourg counts as many participants as the Duck Race... 15.000 small yellow rubber ducks will race against each other on Saturday 23 April 2016, in the waters of the Petrusse river, in the lower quarters of Luxembourg City. Thus it's not astounding, that many onlookers visit the event every year.
Starting at noon, the Petrusse banks become crowded: culinary specialties and leisure activities for big and small are offered throughout the valley. At the last editions of the Duck Race, the streets starting from the rue Saint-Quirin, in the Grund quarter, were indeed heaving with people. Usually, many are those who take advantage of the last hours before the grand start of the race to choose their duck on site. However, for the same price of 5 euros, the ducks are also available on the website.
The benefit is transferred to charities.
The start of the race is at 3 p.m. sharp. From this moment on, victory and defeat get made between the waves of the Petrusse. Two qualification legs take place, followed by a final. Many interesting prizes are to be won!
Along the course of the race, the crowd will be lining the river banks to cheer their ducks on...
The first rubber duck to cross the finish line will win the first prize for its sponsor, the second duck wins the second prize, etc. Now it's your turn to play! As every year, the Duck Race's organisers, the Table ronde luxembourgeoise will transfer the complete benefit of the Duck Race 2016 to charities.
