Good news for the research field in Luxembourg: With the opening of the Robert Schuman Institute of European Affairs of the University of Luxembourg the Grand Duchy now has a research centre specialised in the research and study of European affairs. This institute, which is supposed to elaborate solutions for the societal problems of Europe, is part of the Jean Monnet research centres which are entirely dedicated to topics in relation to the European Union.
As part of the work of the Robert Schuman Institute, the research centre adopts a multidisciplinary approach, therefore the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance and the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education coordinate the new institute together. It is foreseen to promote synergies between the different disciplines and resources in the field of European studies. The focus will be put above all on three domains:
- The economic integration
- The international and national dimension
- The institutional development and the development of constitutional law
The aim of the Robert Schuman Institute of European Affairs is to promote creative thinking and grant more visibility to the topics in relation to the European integration.
