A great success for the University of Luxembourg: Finishing 14th, it counts among the best young universities worldwide, according to the ranking of the magazine Times Higher Education (THE) of the 150 universities that are younger than 50 years. The ranking has been published in the context of the THE summit of young universities in Barcelona. If you consider only European universities, then the University of Luxembourg even finishes 10th!
The ranking called '150 Under 50' is a worldwide ranking of the best universities that have been founded less than 50 years ago. The establishments are evaluated according to 13 performance indicators that are divided into five categories:
- industry income;
- international outlook.
The evaluation is based on the same data used to compile the THE World University Rankings 2015-2016 announced in October 2015. However, the '150 Under 50 Rankings 2016 'methodology is carefully recalibrated to reflect the special characteristics of younger universities, giving less weight to subjective indicators of academic reputation.
The University of Luxembourg particularly scored well when it comes to international outlook, the degree of internationality of students and professors and citations. The score concerning citations corresponds to the frequency of works of the University of Luxembourg being quoted in other publications or by researchers.
