Safer Internet Day (SID) was launched at the initiative of the European Commission and is being organised by the international network Insafe. The 13th edition is held worldwide this Tuesday, 9 February 2016 and aims to raise awareness and mobilise for safe and responsible use of digital media. In Luxembourg, the government initiative BEE SECURE initiates and supports events within the context of this day.
The slogan of the 2016 edition of 'Play your part for a better Internet' relates to the fact that the internet is influenced by the actions of everyone, and so we all have a role to play when it comes to keeping the internet accessible to all, protecting children and using it safely. The actions planned by BEE SECURE Luxembourg as part of the day reflect this theme.
This year the 'DigiRallye' for 'Maison relais" daycare centres, taking place on the Geesseknäppchen Forum, will be a major activity. The same day, the National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse, SNJ) and the 'KannerJugend-Telefon' (KJT) will present the new BEE SECURE teaching tools and new awareness tools BEE SECURE Helpline and Stopline.
In principle, all those interested in this subject can participate in Safer Internet Day by organising events such as workshops, seminars, exhibitions, conferences, etc. All it takes is to simply register the initiative on the Safer Internet Day website.
